My name is Flemming and I live in
Denmark, Northern Europe. I have always been fond of playing with
water. My mother has told me that when I was little it was
allmost impossible to keep me out of rain-puddles and other wet
places.
In my early teenage years I started bathing and swimming with my
clothes on. This was a total secret since my parents didn't like me to
get wet and I was afraid of being the laughing stock at school - it was
bad enough that I was a farmboy surrounded by
"city-slickers". So I swam in a creek that ran through my
father's meadow when I was home alone.
When I moved away from home to study I soon found other deserted lakes
and creeks that I could use without getting caught. I have
often been swimming in the rain when the chance of meeting others at
the lake would be minimal.
I graduated and got a job but it was still a secret that I preferred to
swim with my clothes on.
But two years ago - at the age of 32 - I bought a scooter and I
convinced myself that it was the right time for getting "out of the dry
closet". I went to the Danish west coast and tried for the first
time in my life to bathe with my clothes on in public.
It was a very happy day and since then I have been swimming in clothes
many times. I lost count last year but it is more than 30 times and
always in clothes (I actually don't own what other people would
consider to be swimwear). I soon found out that Denmark is really
a great country when it comes to clothed swimming. I have never
had any problems with other beach-goers - just an occasional question
like "why do you jump in with all your clothes on". I simply
answer that it is what I like best and then people generally accept
it. Of course there has been one or two who thought I was a
weirdo or a freak but I can surely recommend a Danish beach if you are
into clothed swimming.
My favourite clothing - both wet and dry - are bib overalls. They are
comfortable, practical, and great swimwear. I do wear denim
overalls in the water but if I'm going to swim a longer distance I
often wear colourfull worker overalls in a polyester/cotton
material. They are lighter and have greater freedom of movement
than the heavy denimwear. And they dry faster as well.
I'm now totally out-of-closet when it comes to jumping in the water
with clothes on. Most of my acquaintances still doesn't know about it
but I don't do anything to avoid other people when I go for a swim and
if people ask me I don't have to tell a lie anymore.
